As part of its efforts towards a sustainable environment and natural farming, EcDEESHA Foundation has established a first of its kind, community based scalable model of advanced aerobic solid waste management system called the OrgaDigestor technology at Makeli village near Guwahati, Assam. The foundation has been actively supporting Mr. Arunav Misra, a senior environmental scientist who has developed and prototyped the OrgaDigestor system by successfully installing two units for municipal bodies in Poenta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh and Vapi, Gujarat since 2018. The system is designed to consume upto 250 kgs. of solid organic waste per day and to convert it into nutritious soil conditioners, both, solid compost and leachate in just 10 days which is then packaged and distributed by the municipalities to its local farmers.

While, the solid nutritious compost can be used as an organic fertilizer, the liquid leachate can be used as a liquid fertilizer, a natural insecticide as well as nutritious feed in fisheries.

When implemented in large scale, this technology has the potential to address most of the drawbacks of existing solid waste management solutions available in the market.
